Carpet Flooring Buying Guide

Nylon
Nylon is the most durable and stain resistant carpet fiber available, and also the most popular. A wide range of colors and color blends are available. Nylon can also look and feel like wool, but requires less maintenance and costs much less. Nylon 6,6 is superior to other nylon carpets and is perfect for areas with heavy traffic and high usage.

Polyester
Polyester is known for its luxurious look and feel and wonderful selection of colors and styles. This fiber works well in homes with a normal amount of traffic, though it is less durable and stain resistant than nylon. Polyester fibers are used in residential and commercial applications and offer color clarity, colorfastness, and resistance to water-soluble stains.

Olefin (Polypropylene)
Olefin fibers provide stain and moisture resistance, exhibit low static electricity, and resist fading. Carpets made from this man-made fiber are well-priced, and some can be used in outdoor applications. However, olefin carpets have a very limited color selection.
